CURRENT EXHIBITION

Galerie Boomerang, Amsterdam, is proud to present “Give Me Some Truth,” a group exhibition featuring works by Roy Lichtenstein, John Lennon, Sol LeWitt, Bernard Aubertin, Gerard Malanga, Arman, and a wide selection of Australian First Nations artist. The exhibition opens November 10, 2025.

Inspired by John Lennon’s song, “Give Me Some Truth,” the exhibition, which includes a rare print of the late Beatle’s handwritten lyric, addresses the tensions and concerns of these tumultuous times with a single theme: the power of art to instill social and political change. In a time of global turbulence, Give Me Some Truth explores the creative power and production of major artists from across the globe.

In addition to the Lennon lyric, the exhibition offers an opportunity to view several other artworks by
John Lennon (including a limited edition print of the lyrics to “Imagine”), as well as an original copy
of the renowned “War Is Over…If You Want It” poster, personally signed by Yoko Ono. Roy Lichtenstein’s popular “Finger Pointing” (1973), with its cynical reference to the pointing finger depicted on
America’s classic “I want you” military recruitment advertisements, comments on the connections between propaganda, popular culture, politics, and art. In addition, a broad selection of paintings by Australian First Nation (indigenous) artists celebrates the rich contributions of so many oppressed communities to our culture. Other works include Gerard Malanga’s photo portrait of Beat Generation icon William Burroughs, an iconic “smashed violin” print by Arman, and more.

Many of the pieces in the exhibition come from private collections and are not for sale. While the gallery has additional works available by these artists, it was owner-director Peter Madden’s desire to present those artworks that would best articulate the need for art – and peace – in the current moment.

Simultaneous to this exhibition, Galerie Boomerang will continue to feature Murat Germen’s metamorphic photographs of Amsterdam in an ongoing celebration of the city’s 750th anniversary.

“Give Me Some Truth” runs from 10 November, 2025 – 21 March, 2026.
